Dr. Tom Corby
Tom studied Fine Art at Middlesex University (1987) and Chelsea College of Art & Design 1991. For the past 6 years he has been collaborating with Gavin Baily in the production of artworks concerned with deconstructing received assumptions concerning the role of networks/software/computer code as a platform for 'productivity' and 'functionality'.
Works take the form of experimental artefacts that seek to isolate, explore and reclaim software applications as a cultural tool and site for fine art practice. Their work is regularly exhibited internationally, and they have won a number of awards including: 1999 festival prize for interactive art systems at Comtec Art, Dresden; 2000 honorary mention for net art at the Prix Ars Electronica, Linz; 2001 nominated for the European Media Art at ZKM Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie, Karlsruhe; 2002 awarded an honorary mention for their work included in "The Post-Cagian Interactive", at The Machida City Museum of Arts, Tokyo.
